Summer Visitors

berriesberriesberriesberries

This is the season for visits from Sweden, where schools finish earlier than in both the UK and Germany. We have had my brother with parts of his family with us for a week, hence the lack of blog posting and reading. They enjoyed our regular places of interest, such as Roermond with its Factory Outlet in Holland where my brother tried this leather jacket on, but did not get the wifely approval!

Funnily enough, it was us blokes who managed to come away with some purchases, running gear for keeping fit, keeping the old engine going!

Another must when we have visitors is to take them to Düsseldorf with its Königsallé and lovely old town by the Rhine. It is always a success, and this time it was the night of (Germans, look away now!) the German defeat to the excellent Spanish football team. I wonder how sad these young people would have looked only a few hours later.

We also visited more local places such as restaurants and cafés, but since the weather was good almost all of the time, we could have BBQ:s and breakfasts outdoors. Yummy!

Our visitors enjoyed their stay, and I could catch up a little with my brother whom I don't see that often. I also had a great week, and say thank you to him for most of the pictures above.

Eric - Yes, it was great having them here, especially since I got to have "weekend breakfasts" in the week! You know, it takes some time to peel all that fruit in the yoghurt. ;-)

I liked the leather jacket. Very cool!

Diane - So did I, but he did not get the wifely nod. Sigh!

Sounds like you had a great week. Good company and nice weather is always a great combination.

I must still have about 30+ blog posts to catch up on in my google reader, but now that we have visitors and quite a bit of travels, I'm afraid it's jus going to get worse. But, hey... I'm not complaining ;)

CS - I know what you mean. Sometimes Google Reader is like a drill sergeant shouting at you! You approach it with apprehension when you know you are behind with your reading.

Hey Diane,
The jacket was cool, wasn't it.
But that's nothing compared to the bearer. (or... it might not be that cool not to buy the jacket just because it didn't get the nod from my wife, or?)

We sure had a lovely time in your place, dear brother. I'd like to add the interesting incident from our day at the public pool in Roermond, though, the day you didn't come along.

We noticed how the Dutch, in contrast to the Brits, have apparently no sense whatsoever for personal territory. Although there was plenty of space around us, our towels were walked on several times by kids passing by and one even jumped over me as I was lying there, catching some sun rays.
