We have had some flowers (lilies I think) on very long stalks in some pots in our garden since last year. They have grown tall steadily, taking veeery long to develop. In the last week or so the buds on two of them started to change colour, and this morning they had suddenly opened up completely in the strong morning sunshine (30 degrees Celsius). This is the result.

Stunning photography! Absolutely gorgeous; the yellow colour is amazing. I wish you could see how incredible the pictures look on the screen of my new mac.
Beautiful flowers, lilies have always been my favorites.:))
OMG I love the colors!! Perfect shot. When the lighting is right things come to life.
Gorgeous! My lilies don't look nearly so pretty :(
Protege - Thank you, but I can take no credit for the beautiful colours, just the photograph. ;-)
Janeywan - Thanks. Yes, the morning light (late morning to be honest) gives it that little extra.
Diane - Thanks, I'm not a gardener, but I try to take good pictures of what the garden offers!
Gorgeous! Very vibrant yellow.
LadyFi - Thank you.
Ahh, how beautiful! Lilies are such spectacular flowers - so much detail in them. Isn't it amazing how they just decide to burst into full bloom when your back is turned?
Christina - Yes, they are beautiful, but I was surprised how they opened up all of a sudden! It was like, surprise surprise! :-)
Fantastic!! And you have a new self portrait - or have I been sleeping and not noticed?
Veronica - Thank you. Well spotted. The beard has gone, so I thought I would get rid of the old photo, but had no "decent" one clean-shaven, so I ended up using a shot against a shop window, which I subsequently had to un-mirror. And I did it earlier today, so you have not been sleeping. ;-)
