Last Winter Walk?

Today was most likely our last chance this winter to go for a proper winter walk at the weekend. The forecast is for slightly less cold weather, only freezing at night. So we just had to get our walking boots on! It was almost as beautiful as yesterday, and I cannot help myself, I have to show you two pictures from today's walk. On the frozen lake in the forest we spotted these two lost geese. They seemed confused, not understanding what had happened to *their* lake. Funny two-legged creatures were moving around them dangerously. Where to go?

Then on the way back we came upon these deer. In the dying light I managed to get some decent pictures. What a sight it was. They did not expect any people around, so all five of them (one is obscured) ventured out into the open field to forage for food under the white cover. A memorable moment.

Love the photo of the geese! I did a post recently about getting pecked in the head by a Canada goose on the bank of a pond... it was my dog's fault :)

Thanks for your comment about Feedjit. I've discovered the issue with the location discrepancies... I figure they do it on purpose to drive me even crazier ;)

You must live in a very remote beautiful area. I have the sunshine 20C today, but you have the tranquility.

Diane - I remember your goose post, but I did not have time to comment then. Judging from the number of comments you get, you'll get dizzy when you see your stats numbers!

GW - It has been just above freezing today, so the lovely snow will soon be gone. :-(

Just beautiful! I do miss being out on the country, though I was staying in a lovely country area of New York State for Christmas. The Geese are wonderful, they look like their feet are stuck!

Happy New year by the way! I'm just catching up with my "bloglings" now ;)

1st L - A Happy New to you too! Yes, the geese look like they are stuck but they were in fact moving around very erratically. They'll soon get their lake back. It's great to have this area just 5 mins walk from our house, open fields and some forest. We feel spoilt. Bye bye, blogling!

Your pictures are so nice it almost makes me like winter.

Diane - Thank you. It's been raining all day, and there is very little left of the white stuff!

Thanks for this and all the other posts on your local walks. I like doing the same but prefer not to have the snow!

Matthew - It most likely was the last snowy walk, because it's all gone now. One good thing about the snow is that it reflects any light, so it seems lighter in the evenings.
