Happy New Year Everybody!

Well, December was apparently the coldest in the UK since the Met Office started monitoring the weather a long time ago. But we went to Sweden to spend time with relatives and friends, and the coldest temperature the car thermometer registered was –22 degrees.

The whole country was covered in masses of snow. You needed your long-johns and thermals, that’s for sure, and woolly hats and gloves …. but it created some beautiful scenes for free…

…and some funny ones as well.

In Stockholm my grandchildren could not go on the swing …

… my two little darlings had to play indoors most of the time…

Zuzana - Gott Nytt År! I was very glad for my winter tyres, and the snow shovel, which I had to use to dig the car out in Malmö to get to Stockholm!

Happy New Year! -22°C - now that's cold! Looks like you had a lovely time with your family, and that's what it's all about, eh?

I saw your blog in Zuzana’s and came for a visit. We took the train from Copenhagen once to your home town of Malmö and liked the city a lot. Your picture of the windmill under the snow is beautiful, but it does look so cold. I hope it is warmer now.

Christina - I was glad the car did not break down in that cold! Friends and family certainly "warmed us up".

Vagabonde - Thanks for stopping by. When we fly to Malmö, we always go to Copenhagen and then take the train. It could be quite tricky in the winter before the link across the water was built. I'm glad you liked the windmill picture.

beautiful scenes!
It seems it has been a severe weather christmas all over - Snow in Atlanta Georgia ...
Brisbane has just had very substantial record breaking flooding, as has parts of NSW and Victoria, and because it is Australia (a land of droughts and flooding rains - http://www.dorotheamackellar.com.au/) there are severe bushfires in WA!

Limningedge - Yes, what's with the weather? Luckily the water is receding in Queensland, but it will be a long period of clearing up and reconstructing I suppose.
