First Blogger Anniversary

Exactly a year ago I posted for the first time to this blog. Although I had registered the blog in September 2005, it lay dormant and almost forgotten out in the blogosphere all that time.

In this first year I have got to know online blogger friends, exchanged ideas, opinions and information. Sometimes I feel guilty about the time I spend in the blogosphere, but then again, I honestly am a very moderate user of this parallel universe. Some people must be spending most of their time there, judging by the number of posts they produce. You know who you are! ;-) However it genuinely is a great way of getting to know other parts of the world, looking into other people’s lives through this online keyhole and also to share some of your own life with relatives, friends and the accidental visitor.

To celebrate this I give you this YouTube clip (my sister emailed it to me) with a 4-year-old drummer! I have tried to look for evidence it is a fake, that it is not this little kid playing, but I have not been able to. Look at his face how the drumming is reflected there. Sound and picture seem to be in synch, and it seems to be a proper, home-made video, without any sophistication. See what you think. Is it genuine?

Happy Blogaversary! I'm sure glad you did decide to continue blogging. :-)

I think the little boy is genuine - saw this on the news the other day. He's got better coordination that most of us who are decades older, eh? Music in his blood.

Thank you Christina! How appropriate that you are the first one to comment on this post! Remember? It was that article I read where your blog was mentioned, so thank you again. That boy must be born to music! It seems so natural to him, truly amazing!

Congratulations - Well done... I missed you when you were off sunning yourself in France. Your comments were the ones that encouraged me to shift more toward writing something other than recipes. I love the little drummer boy - so in exchange I give you this link to 'a drummer' - for some reason I find it quite entrancing watching how his body moves and how much he feels the beat... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnzXTGn3i58

Have fun... put your headphones on.. watch out for any 'old grouches' that will suddenly go into shock!

Happy Blogaversary Swen, may you continue to blog in the years to come. I find your blog so very entertaining and interesting.

Happy blogging my friend

Yes I think the kid is for real, unusual in a child of that age. :)

Traveller and Diane - Thank you!

Eric - Thank you! Very kind words.

Lynda - You flatter me, but I'm glad you did change focus a little (I still have not made those choc orange sticks! :-Oooops!). It is truly fascinating to read about a country so different from here. Your drummer clip, wow! What a way to burn fat! Every fibre in his body was drumming; good to see a live drummer instead of a machine for this kind of music; great stuff!

Happy Bloggaversary!!!

My opinion is that it's fake. I think there is someone behind him sitting on the floor wearing black gloves holding the sticks just under the boys hands and doing the drumming. Some of his movements are too big for a four year old, sometimes his body is jerked by a big swing made with his hand. That doesn't happen when one is making the motion themself.

Thank you Rositta and Christina G - Christina, I am sorry to say, but I now know that the little drummer is genuine. A music journalist in Sweden, from whose article my sister got the URL, has confirmed he is genuine. I have seen other faked performances in the manner you described, so I understand your suspicions. I suppose he will go on and become the world's best drummer! ;-)
